Bird Golf Academy Instructor Sharon Miller Inducted Into The Colorado Golf Hall Of Fame
Miller Honored For Outstanding Career and Teaching Contributions to The Sport
Phoenix, Ariz March 27, 2008---Bird Golf Academy, best known for it’s innovative, individualized coaching and instruction techniques, announced recently that Sharon Miller, the current Head Professional and LPGA’s Teacher of the Year (89) has been inducted into the Colorado Golf Hall of Fame.
"Sharon’s career is the stuff of legend," says Jay Ewing, Founder, owner, and director of instruction of Bird Golf Academy in his site blog. "When her playing career came to an end, Sharon devoted herself to teaching, andi t is, perhaps, in this arena that she shines, like no other."
Miller attended Western Michigan University, where she had the unique, and still unmatched distinction of lettering in five sports simultaneously. In 1966, Miller joined the LPGA Tour and went on to win three tournaments and several recorded top finishes. After retiring in 1986, she became the teaching editor of Golf For Women, and began her teaching career.
According to the official website, Colorado Golf Hall of Fame inductees are evaluated based on one or more of the following performance categories: teaching ability and results, administration, promotion and staging, and playing ability and record. In order to be inducted, candidates must receive an affirmative vote from two thirds of the Hall of Fame board of Directors. While many people are nominated each year, only a few have the distinction of being selected.
"Sharon understands more methods and styles of teaching than any teacher that I have ever met, adds Ewing. " She is without question the most widely read and learned golf teacher that I have ever known. . . through her teaching, Sharon has influenced and inspired thousands of lives."
