Featured Golf School
Students receive a personalized practice program concentrating on his or her areas of strengths and weaknesses. Students practice all aspects of the game each week, but an emphasis is placed on those areas where they can achieve the maximum level of improvement. The Academy also places an emphasis on competition. Their philosophy is simple – “You cannot be expected to win tournaments without learning how to play under the pressure of competition.” Practice schedules include on-course competition and students compete in IJGA Stroke Play, Match Play and Team Championships. Beyond these events, students may also elect to compete at International Junior Golf Tour events and other amateur tournaments t Sport psychology and fitness training are an integral part of the golf program. All students work with Dr. Steve Russo, a leading sport psychologist, on a regular basis in their golf group. At the Fitness Center, the student’s physical condition will be evaluated by experts who then develop a specialized fitness program for each student. A personal trainer oversees the program. The IJGA summer golf program is different from your typical summer golf camps. All their coaches are PGA Class A teaching professionals or PGA Tour players, not college players. Their coaches have devoted their lives to teaching junior golfers; they are the same coaches who teach the year-round students. Students see their swing on video compared with a touring pro (and they get to keep the video). The coaches follow the players on their daily play on one of the area’s championship courses to teach them course management. The student’s swings are evaluated using the Vector Launch Angle Monitor, the latest technology used on the PGA Tour. Dr. Steve Russo, the staff sport psychologist, helps student’s master the mental side of the game. The International Junior Golf Academy is serious about getting results but they are equally committed to making sure the students have fun when they aren’t on the course as well. Students enjoy beach picnics, pool parties, fireworks and more. To learn more about the International Junior Golf Academy, visit them on the web at www.ijga.com
