With its flagship location in the heart of Monterey, Nike Golf Schools & Junior Golf Camps combine the excitement of championship golf with their core mission of delivering quality golf instruction to junior golfers of all ability levels.
(PRWEB) February 12, 2010 – Nike Golf Schools and Junior Golf Camps, a division of U.S. Sports Camps – the nation’s largest sports camp operator – will offer two unique junior golf opportunities during the U.S. Open at Pebble Beach this summer.
“We’ve had outstanding junior golf camps in the Monterey Peninsula for many years,” explains Jason West, national co-director of Nike Golf Schools and Junior Golf Camps, “but this is the first opportunity we’ve had to couple our camp experience with a major championship. We can appeal to junior golfers as both fans and students of the game and we think the natural byproduct will be increased passion for the sport. Our goal is to create lifelong golfers. The atmosphere the Open brings, the beauty of the surroundings, the fact that our flagship location is here, we really couldn’t ask for a better platform.”
The 2010 U.S. Open will be held at Pebble Beach Golf Links from June 14 – 20. Nike Golf School sessions are scheduled for June 13-18 and June 19-24. Participants in both sessions will attend the Open for at least one tournament round and receive daily instruction from Nike Golf Schools National Director of Instruction, Rich Marik, and his staff. Participants and staff will reside on the campus of Cal State University Monterey Bay and travel to a variety of area courses for daily instruction and course play.
“Attending the Open as part of our camp curriculum represents an incredible opportunity for the junior golfers who attend,” says Marik. “These campers will be witnessing the best players in the world compete under extreme pressure on one of the greatest golf courses ever designed. We are truly looking forward to this once in a lifetime opportunity to help these junior golfers improve.”
The Nike Golf Schools during the US Open are open to boys and girls aged 12 to 18. All levels of ability are welcome in both sessions. Participants in the first session will attend a practice round and the opening round of the Open. Participants in the second session will attend the final round on Sunday, June 20th.
